“Repent and be baptized!” These were the words that the Apostles frequently preaching to the people in order for them to attain the power of the Holy Spirit as what Jesus promised. In connection to that the Holy Mother Church re-echoed the voice of the Apostle in this season of Advent when there is a necessity of atoning one’s sins through the Sacrament of Penance in order for us to receive Jesus, the Lamb of God, purely, humbly and worthy partakers of Christ. St. Pedro, on the other hand, as a faithful Catholic fulfilled the necessary observances thus preparing him for Christmas day in its true spirit. Preparation is a necessary in order for us to obtain great favors from God and by these St. Pedro faithfully followed them therefore he attained graces whole and entire from God through Our Lady’s hands. Do we want to obtain graces? Then, let us prepare well.
As we moved on in this Year of Faith, let us ask St. Pedro Calungsod to intercede for us before the throne of grace and mercy that we faithfully follow the duties of a good Catholic Christian especially in this special season of Advent, a season of hope and expectation of the promised Messiah. And may the Blessed Mother, the Star of Evangelization, grant us the grace of preparing well in this season of Advent that we may experience the joy of the lowly poor Shepherd as the angels announced to them “Gloria in excelsis Deo et in terra pax hominibus!”. Amen.
