“Precious in the eyes of the Lord is the death of his faithful ones”, as what the psalmist says. Martyrdom is one of the various ways that proves our fidelity to God. We should focus ourselves in the Lord who died on the cross for us that we may have an unwavering faith in Him who was raise from the dead and the sole conqueror of sin and death. This faith that we obtain from the Lord through our Baptism and nurtured in the Eucharist must be shown to others even if it means death. Nothing can separate us from the love of God as what St. Paul said in one of his letters. Moreover, sin alone is the prime reason of our separation from God. And that’s the reason why we have to LEAVE THE SIN BEHIND!
Saint Pedro’s oblation of love is the consequence of his love for Jesus in the Eucharist. He daily assisted and participated in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass uniting himself to his Sovereign Lover. God takes St. Pedro’s soul through the way of Calvary that he may be like Him “being in full accord”, like a “wheat gathered and grown to be a bread broken and shared as one.” May his example lead us to do the same.
May the Immaculate Virgin, the Pillar of our Faith, strengthen us in times of difficulties and hardships.
